Artist Interview: The ATif
What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
The ATif (TA:) Music has always been the best form of expression for me. The metaphysical and the magical impact chords can have on our vibes has been mesmerizing. Parents tell me I used to sing even before I could speak. Also playing guitar and piano I learned the ability to time travel through music in past and sometimes future.
What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
TA: My musical approach is very simple. The song must jump out of the speakers and the headphones. It should have some sort of power on you. It should be risky, it should be out of the comfort zone, it should hit the sweet spot in a fresh way. That’s what I try to do in a very song-oriented way. I think artists die but songs live on. Elvis, MJ, Jim Morrison or Eddie Van Halen. Press play and they are there. Teleportation.
If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
TA: I think I would sing a duet with Richard Marx, Bryan Adams, or Kenny G- I have met all three.
Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
TA: I think my latest is my greatest. With Alien Inn I added another dimension into my songwriting, production and the ability to import meaningful themes through catchy lyrics. Recorded in LA with Dave “The Rainman” Banta who has worked with Sting, Tupac, Take That and MJ- it was an out of soul experience to work at his studio.
Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
TA: I like live as it is instant response. It helps in juggling energies with listeners. You make strangers into friends instantly. Studio of course you can plan, arrange and deliberate the most unbelievable ideas while reflecting and feeling them.
What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
TA: I recently performed my song “Raise Some Hell’ at a diversity festival in NYC. I meshed it up with We Will Rock You and They Don’t Care About Us. The response was mesmerizing.

What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?
TA: The creative control. The autonomy to do anything. The ability to reach anywhere. Be at the fingertips of the listeners. Also, the automation to interact instantly and convert every wave to your advantage. The unbelievable technological control. Sadly, we aren’t creating enough magic.
What kind of impact do you want to make with your music?
TA: I want to write beyond sex, drugs, and designer wear. I want to address themes such as social responsibility, equality, disease, greed, hunger, education, climate change, fitness, and many more. I want to create a real impact beyond hips don’t lie.
