Exclusive Interview with Nagoyaka
Modern Soulful Music: What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Nagoyaka: I love making music that’s all…
What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
Nagoyaka: In almost every track I try to combine incompatible instruments and sounds, and at the same time, my tracks still sound lo-fi and chill. When everyone is using a regular piano or guitar, I try to add some synths and unusual sounds that no one has heard
If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
Nagoyaka: Definitely L.Dre and Toonorth. I love their music. It was after hearing Toonorth’s music I decided to start making music by myself, and the video of L.Dre on YouTube inspired me to continue doing this work
What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
Nagoyaka: The advantage is that I have complete freedom. I myself decide how and when to release releases, how to promote, and so on. And this is also the disadvantage
Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
Nagoyaka: I really don’t know yet, I’m an independent artist now, but if they offer me to sign a label who knows, maybe I’ll agree, I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
Nagoyaka: Inner space! I think this is still one of my best tracks. In it, I put low-fidelity hip-hop into space. I love the synth sound on this track. Very cosmic chilly and sleepy
Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
Nagoyaka: In a studio. I don’t really like performing on stage, I get a lot of stress during performances, and I also have a fear of the crowd. So only in the studio
What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
Nagoyaka: One of my tracks was noticed by a channel on YouTube with a million subscribers! They wanted to add my song to their selections and playlists. And of course, I agreed
What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?
Nagoyaka: People. Especially the success of other people. Many are jealous, but I am inspired by this and tell myself that I can do the same.
If you weren’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
Nagoyaka: I don’t know, I probably would have been drawing…
