Me and You is a song from my ‘LA Sessions’ project recorded in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The song uses synths, guitar, bass, drum set, and electronic drums to create an Indie, Pop, Alternative R&B soundscape. The lyrics of the song tell the story of vulnerability, loyalty, and asking the same of the other person. Towards the end of the song, the guitar solo touches on the influences of Prince. The solo is played over background vocals with a key change that elevates the mood and intensity of the song and overall cinematic feeling. In the end, it’s up to the listener to decide if things work out as the song ends with a fiery solo over the lingering background vocals asking a question of the muse.

“Me and You” is something different coming from Chavar Dontae corner, fusing together a catchy soundscape of pop with theatrical story-telling origins and a blissfully soulful RnB vocal – the result is something that feels like rhyme and ultimately paves the way for a more creative, sensitive, and immersive RnB realm of tomorrow.
“Me and You ” sheds new light on the artist, striking a chord with spectators because of its transparency, fragility, purity, and the powerful artistic thread that runs through the work. Perfect for a night out in the city and my personal favorite from Chavar Dontae line.
