South London-based artist and rapper Vindi continues to raise the bar in the alternative, soulful, and storytelling hip hop, with the striking intensity and equally inspiring visuals of Temptation.
Vindi is an artist known for throwing a wrench into the works and going against the grain of the current music trends by providing an alternative vibe. Their mannerisms are all their own.
Vindi’s low-voiced bellow is deep, atonal, and easygoing, and its contained coolness is captivating. It’s a kind of rap rendition that wraps you around its low-voiced bellow.
Vindi hasn’t always been a solo artist he started in a group known as ‘The Collective’ and was also part of a duo known as ‘SE23s Finest’ however due to circumstances some members no longer make music or have branched off to do their own thing, therefore he decided to give it a go himself solo.
The Temptation tune employs a genuine calm feel alongside a single vocal lead and minor afro-pop vibe echoes of voice for added impact, with essential yet melodic background and intense pace.
The vocal tone of Vindi, the sharp delivery, the dynamic flow, and the similarly sharp, smart arrangement of the bars all contribute to the weight.
In both sound and lyrics, Vindi’s voice is becoming increasingly distinct from the rest of the artist’s repertoire. In addition to being familiar and appealing, it authentically conveyed the song’s atmosphere, presented honesty, and revealed exposure. All while weaving through a series of flows that continually return to the creative and melodically captivating hook.
Vindi keeps things simple yet effective, with a creative, almost soothing beat, excellent vocal rhythm, flashes of melody, and an overall song that grabs the listener’s attention while also energizing them. Temptation by Vindi is a definite highlight of the Flaws of Attraction project, with captivating melodies, a relatable theme that is packaged in a unique way, and great storytelling.
“I make music about life, its releases therapy, whether its a serious song or me having fun, I am not a street guy which used to be counted against me however good music is just that no matter where you are from, if you can rap you can rap. My favourite era of Hip Hop has passed however I want to keep the flag going while putting a modern twist on it.”

Artist Interview
Modern Soulful Music: What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Vindi (V:)I’ve always had music around me, especially in the household and also when visiting family. My earliest memories are hearing my Dad play reggae, revival and lovers rock almost every day. I enjoy that music yet fell in love with rap seeing MTV, I downloaded software to record vocals and produce beats and started from there, I was a producer/beatmaker first.
What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
V: I am the first-ever ME, other artists are imitations or blatant copycats of their favourite rappers or whatever is the current wave. My style will remind you at times of boom bap hip hop yet I’ve elevated it and moulded it into a modern-day equivalent. The V in my name is for Versatile and the music is my life a song could be about a good day, feeling depression, love, going out to a party whatever moves me at the time I go and record it.
If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
V: The artist I would love to collaborate with is definitely Kendrick Lamar I feel he’s the best of the current generation and raises the bar with each project, his flows, cadences, voices, and song structure it’s amazing I am always looking to learn and surely would in a session even if I just watched his process.
What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage of being an Indie artist?
V: My biggest advantage is I’m unfiltered I literally don’t have to think I want to release a certain type of song to satisfy anyone I am free. The biggest disadvantage is lack of exposure without major backing it’s hard to make a name it be noticed no matter how good the music is…There’s a lot of politics.
Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
V: Honestly, I would prefer a partnership so I am able to maintain artistic freedom that’s of utmost importance for me.
Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your best song and why?
V: Good question. My personal favourite is ‘Clouds’ as this was the first song I recorded for my debut full-length project. At the time of writing was pondering life, the moments you wonder what is the meaning so just expressed my state of mind and from the responses, people resonated to it, I planned to keep it for myself and nobody hears it ever.
Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
V: Performance is always a gauge of emotion you see the instant response from the crowd even if they don’t know you. You learn which songs work for you and the audience is honest…you need this for future reference. I enjoy creating in the studio also as I’ve had collaborations thanks to networking online with people around the world, for the past year my songwriting has taken on another level as I’m now writing hooks for R&B artists I would like to ghostwrite in future for rappers too.
What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
V: My proudest moment is seeing my daughter’s reaction to the music she is very honest she likes what she likes not all my songs, of course, *laughs… but the ones she loves will play to herself and friends proudly.
What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?
V: There are so many talented people unheard and we never know which song will propel us or be the one to break us, so creativity inspires me, there are more independent artists who are doing it now than previously, and I am inspired by those who also grind I know what it takes so seeing anyone just trying to be heard who starts to make waves is encouraging.
If you weren’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
V: I still work nine to five while balancing doing music between co-parenting so it’s not easy but in theory whatever I pursue to be in creative writing as I used to write poems prior to rapping, so maybe the spoken word is an alternative.
