Hit that play button to deep dive into the music! You might have just found your newest playlist addition!
24-year-old Martin Jasper from Heemskerk is a singer/songwriter in heart and soul. Martijn Roggeveen, as the artist is called in real life, started creating his own sound in the Indie scene in Amsterdam. He took an example from Ed Sheeran, Demot Kennedy and Ben Howard. Four years ago, he got the chance of a lifetime: He flew to Nashville to sign with the American publisher The Bus. What followed was an intensive period in which Martin went into the studio to write music in Los Angeles, London, Nashville and Philadelphia, among other places.
“If I Don’t Love Me” sheds new light on the artist, striking a chord with spectators because of its transparency, fragility, purity, and the powerful artistic thread that runs through the work.
Martin Jasper creates an arrangement with a lot of ebbs and flow, much like the action of waves lapping on a beach, which is quite beautiful, thanks to the extensive use of reverb and delay. As a result, there is a sense of sumptuous richness throughout.
As a result of the overall mood shift of If I Don’t Love Me, the audience’s spirits are lifted as a result. It is only a brief moment, but the swagger and empowerment of the lyrical passages are swiftly restored, and we begin to connect with the bold and beautiful undertones that run throughout this song.
Perfect for a night out in the city and my personal favorite from the Martin Jasper line.
