“My Turn” is something different coming from Je’Vel corner, fusing together a catchy soundscape with theatrical story-telling origins and a blissfully soulful RnB vocal – the result is something that feels like rhyme and ultimately paves the way for a more creative, sensitive, and immersive RnB realm of tomorrow.
Je’Vel creates an arrangement with a lot of ebbs and flow, which is quite beautiful, thanks to the extensive use of reverb and delay. As a result, there is a sense of sumptuous richness throughout.
The effect of “My Turn” is to draw the listener’s attention to the soft and soulful rhythm and…of course, Je’Vel’s vocals in the background. Or, more precisely, the intimacy of the lyrics — there’s a wide range of them on display.
