Michael Annoti (MA:) My music “my real story” is all about faith, vision, and passion for making music that creates a positive impact as well as overcoming adversity against all odds to fulfill a God-given vision and purpose uplifting the hearts of humanity in communities worldwide through word, power, and sound.

MSM: How does your music bring inspiration to the soul?

MA: My music brings inspiration to the soul of the people through word, power, and sound of faith, love, and hope, a better future for the next generation, equality for humanity, an end to senseless violence and war over prejudice and hatred, good over evil, feeding the hungry homeless people around the globe and providing dignity and shelter for those born into poverty. My lyrics and songs utilize melody and harmony to penetrate the barriers of language with a message of strength together in unity.

MSM: Who inspires you? Who are your role models?

MA: I am inspired by God to do these works through a vision I received after a freak accident changed my life revealing to me hidden talents of singing, writing songs and playing instruments, performing and speaking to the people with the intention to connect and unify our common foundation of love we all seek in life regardless of our differences, we all seek to be loved and appreciated in every walk of life.

MSM: Why do you want to be an award-winning Modern Soulful Musician?

MA: I will glorify God as a Modern Soulful Musician award winner, without my faith nothing is possible, I also seek to inspire others to pursue their dreams and utilize my platform of becoming an award-winning Modern Soul Artist to speak out for the importance of the arts in education. I am a self-taught musician, performing and philanthropic artist, and founder of a non profit called One Family Music Foundation and will continue a long relationship with Modern Soul Musician to encourage and pay it forward to other up-and-coming artists who need instruments and training on how to become a professional in all aspects of their musical journey.

Modern Soulful Music Awards (MSM:) What story/emotional narrative does your music tell?

Sunny Cowell (SC:) My music is about learning to love oneself as one navigates being in different types of relationships, both romantic and platonic. More specifically, my upcoming album in the fall, Anthology of Love, addresses the unique perspective of learning to love while also dealing with mental health challenges. It has songs with the following themes: temporary love to heal pain (my single “Here With Me”), the unrequited crush (my single “Center of Attention”), the one night stand, the “situationship”, the turbulent long term relationship, what people say when one ends a relationship, and more. The narrative tells a story that ends with oneself, where one is more confident and makes better choices, treating oneself better.

MSM: How does your music bring inspiration to the soul?

SC: My music brings inspiration to the soul because it creates a space of therapy through music. I hope that by listening to my music, fans identify with the emotions I convey and nuances that they rarely have a chance to express. I hope that fans feel seen and can better explore their own emotional mastery, freedom, and self-reflection by listening to my music.

MSM: Who inspires you? Who are your role models?

SC: I am inspired by a mix of artists that span genre such as R&B/soul artists Sade, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Donny Hathaway, Alina Baraz, classical composers like Debussy and Ravel, but most of all I am inspired by my jazz pianist father and composer Stanley Cowell. I am inspired by beautiful melodies, acoustic instruments that create an organic sound, electronic contrasts, and modern beats/percussion paired with quality composition. Many of the artists that inspire me incorporate some or all of these aspects and were classically trained in addition to playing multiple instruments like I do (voice, guitar, viola).

MSM: Why do you want to be an award-winning Modern Soulful Musician?

SC: I would like to be an award-winning Modern Soulful Musician because I would like the opportunity to share my music with a broader audience with the hope that it brings hope, light, therapeutic self-reflection, and joy into their lives.

MP: I’ve been told that my music brings inspiration to the soul because it puts words and instrumentation to something we all feel, love for our moms.

MP: I am inspired by anyone that follows their passions, in any area.

MSM: What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

Q: I am the only one of my kind that exists.

MSM: If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?

Q: I would collaborate with Goddess Dorthea. She is divinely gifted, peaceful and positive. She produces her own sort of energy that can’t be copied, duplicated or cloned.

What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?:

Q: My biggest advantage will be reaching those who need to hear me.

MSM: Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?

Q: I prefer to be independent.

MSM: Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?

Q: I haven’t released any music, yet! Coming soon.

Q: Performing on stage is most enjoyable for me because folks get to hear and feel me in real time. The exchange of positive energy is instant.
