Artist Spotlight Interview: Who Is “Savior Monroe?”

What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?: Ive always written material with a message in it, whether short stories, scripts or novels. Shortly after, I wanted to spread my message of self esteem and spirit through music, so I began writing songs which turned into making music.

What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?: I have an underlining tone of spiritual aspects mixed in with street reality and pop fiction in my music. There are artists that focus on one or the other, but I’m the only hip hop artist I know that channels all 3 in their music. On top of that, I’m very transparent in my art. I get personal while using my music as a therapeutic outlet to express myself, and who better to tell my story but myself.

If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?: I always wanted to work with 9th Wonder, a producer from North Carolina responsible for Jamla records who Rapsody is signed to. He’s done production for Rapsody of course, Jay-Z, Little Brother, Kendrick Lamar as well as many others. Its something about his sound that captures an emotion in me that I dont channel often. I did a mixtape with a friend of mine over all 9th Wonder beats we downloaded. But I would really be happy and appreciative if I could lock in with 9th one on one and get something custom made.

What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?: The advantage of being an indie artist its having 100 percent creative control over your work. The disadvantage is coming out of your pocket to fund everything you need to get your career going and in most cases, keep it going. But I’d rather have it that way than get an advance from a label and have them control my creative direction and overall artist direction.

Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?: I prefer independence because of the creative control you maintain. With my type of music, I need all of my creative control.

Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?: Thats a tough one because I love just about everything I actually release, especially lately. But my best song to me personally has to be “Heritage of Linguistics.” This track embodies what Savior Monroe does best. Content, style, wordplay, and my producer Kay-Y created a beat that was able to bring the best out of me.

Honorable mentions would be “What Is Success”, “Adam Kadmon” and “Seraph” which i wrote about my mom who died from cancer in 2017.

Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?: Creating in the studio because I do engineering as well. So I get the previledge of writing, recording, mixing and mastering (if need be) in the studio where as on stage its only performance, even though I LOVE to perform as well.

What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?: Performing at the Palace of Auburn Hills for the Michigan part of the ‘Warped Tour’ before the Palace was closed down. Definitely a monumental moment for me. Also, creating and finishing “Lost Innocence Awakening”, the album I wrote and dedicated to my mom after she passed away from Cancer.

What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?: The fact that artists of all ages are getting spotlight now. They are quick to tell you that hip hop is a young persons game, but they dont put that stipulation on any other genre of music. But thanks to things like Versuz, social media, and the need for more mature artists these days, older artists are being respected and sought after more than ever within the last decade. The biggest artists are still the young ones, but there is room for more mature artists now as well. I dont consider myself old yet, but Im not young either and the game is inviting artist my age more and more lately so Im proud about that. The fact that hip hop is respected now, no matter the age rank is a beautiful thing in my opinion.

If you wasn’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?: Probably a counselor of some kind. Or a psychologist.

Jeff Lake Releases Debut EP “Field of Grass”

The opening song “Better Times Will Come” by Janis Ian, immediately sets a positive, uplifting tone. Written at the advent of covid, Ian was connected with Lake via WBA Records in Nashville. Lake puts his own upbeat spin on the track, ornamenting it with fiddle, banjo, mandolin & upright bass. It quickly became a fan fav on Ian’s own site garnering 3k views on Lake’s YouTube channel.

The tune serves in contrast to Lake’s own material including the title track which speaks to themes of isolation, fatalism, and environmentalism.

Los Angeles, CA, October 2021 – Goddess Dorthea is back on the scene with her
pure, unadulterated blend of hip-hop and R&B. The artist has a
unique vocal delivery, which is uniquely spontaneous and
dynamic, combining some memorable beats with the singer’s
stunning vocal chops.

What’s really striking about this new release is definitely the fact
that Goddess Dorthea arguably went above and beyond to make
sure that every single aspect of the project was tailored to
perfection. As a result, “The Soul HealHer: Rebirth” is a forward,
punchy and catchy album that jumps out of the speakers, with a
massive attitude and a unique vibe. The special thing about it is
that it feels so natural and spontaneous and the different

The song has a really cool introduction, almost like turning it into
an old radio, and getting to connect with the groove of a classic
reggae song, only to be transported to a completely different
place, with a more modern vibe. The electronic drum sounds are
really amazing, and in addition to that, the melodies really shine,
perfectly surrounding Goddess Dorthea’s vocal chops.
Goddess Dorthea’s charismatic lyrical flow is nothing short of
impeccable and she knows how to reach out to the audience
with her seamless creativity and witty songwriting. Any true fan of
Dancehall, Afro-Beat and more will absolutely connect with the
magnetic, electrifying nature of this release. Ultimately, the new
the release is very well-produced and impactful in terms of
soundscapes and it also feels really well-executed on a
performance standpoint, highlighting Goddess Dorthea’s unique
charisma and artistry from the moment you hit the play button.
