Contemporary pop artist Kristin Carter is pleased to unveil her new single “I’m Still Here”, which arrives on all streaming platforms today.
Written and co-produced by Carter herself, “I’m Still Here” is an enchanting sound bath composed entirely from Carter’s own voice using expressive harmonies and overtones that allow the strong and purposeful lyrics to come alive.
“This song was inspired by my reflection on some really challenging moments in my life. When I’ve considered the feeling of impossibility from these struggles, I’ve often wondered how I even made it through. I don’t think we give ourselves enough credit for what we endure, and the courage it takes to go forward. Life is hard. We’re all trying our best. We are forever changed by what happens to us, but most importantly after it all; we are still here,” says Carter.
The process of creating a bold, entirely acapella track was a “happy accident” for Carter. The instrumental originally recorded for “I’m Still Here” proved to be unusable, but undeterred, Carter used her past training in choir to create her own vocal instrumentation to complete the song – all from vocals recorded in her own bedroom.
“I’m Still Here” marks a re-birth for Carter in adult contemporary-leaning pop after notable acclaim in the country genre. With previous successes such as the Top 20 Canadian radio single “Karma”, back-to-back semi-finalist nods in SiriusXM’s Top of the Country contest, and 3.8 million digital streams, Carter is ready to explore a new sound that lends itself to a myriad of sonic explorations.
Carter is sharing “I’m Still Here” as the first glimpse of her ambitious 2024 debut album, “Full Bloom”, a fiercely artistic and genre-bending study of the human experience.
“I want ‘I’m Still Here’ to inspire others to reflect on their own lives and respect their own resilience,” says Carter.
