Artist Interview
Modern Soulful Music: What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Don Pasquale Ferone (DPF:) My passion for guitar that I learned as a self-taught person when I was 15 years old… Music, especially Christian and Gospel music, is my favorite hobby.
What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
DPF: I don’t think I can distinguish myself from others, but I hope that my Christian music can help many people to rediscover the beauty of music and the Gospel proclamation.
If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
DPF: There are many, but surely Ziza Fernandes, Don Moen, Hillsong, and others…
What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage of being an Indie artist?
DPF: The advantage of being an indie artist for me means having more freedom in expressing myself but the disadvantage is not having the proper means for recordings and technical support from the insiders.
Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
DPF: I like to continue as an Indie artist but I would definitely not refuse to sign for a major.
Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your best song and why?
DPF: There are different ones, but I would choose Fidelity and Perseverance; the first inspires me and charges me more from an instrumental point of view because it is very charged with emotions and then the text also speaks of fidelity as an important and necessary value to achieve some things; The second, Perseverance, is a very rhythmic unplugged song that I like so much for its rhythm, but of course, there are others too…
Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
DPF: I certainly like the creation in the studio but I would also not mind a good live on stage, perhaps with other Christian music artists.
What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
DPF: The best time is when you know that your songs are being heard and shared for the cause of evangelization.
What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?
DPF: The fact that your songs can be easily and quickly shared, listened to, and learned; certainly, more room should be left for indie artists.
If you weren’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
DPF: What I already am, that is, the priest. I do it by vocation and to help so many people who are in need.
