Modern Soulful Music (MSM:) What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Andrew de La Foix (AF:) My passion for music, especially for the sounds of the 70s, has accompanied me since I was a child
MSM: What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
AF: I don’t know if it distinguishes me or not, but surely in my dance productions, I put maniacal care in the arrangements, guitars, winds, and strings, they are really played by artists of great value.
MSM: If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
AF: let’s talk about a dream … among many artists, I certainly appreciate Quincy Jones. I believe it is among the best producers in the world; among the “new” I would like to collaborate with Opolopo, I envy his brilliant research of sounds
MSM: What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
AF: The advantage and the disadvantage coincide: being free to be able to express myself, without necessarily having to please anyone else but me.
MSM: Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
AF: Definitely a major, it would allow me to reach a wider audience, which is important for an artist.
MSM: Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your best song and why?
AF: The best is the one that I still have to write … I am fond of all my creatures, perhaps “I need you tonight”, even with the flaws of a song written in 2010 is one of my favorites.
MSM: Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?
AF: I am a studio animal
MSM: What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?
AF: Not the most successful, but the most memorable was shooting the video for “Misfit” cover of the famous song by Curiosity Killed the Cat with Ben Volpellier, singer of the famous band of the 80s
MSM: What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?
AF: There is a lot of excitement, and technology has allowed access to the music industry for everyone … there are many talented young people ….. and then there is unfortunately a lot of garbage.
MSM: If you weren’t in the music business or industry, what do you think you would be doing with your life instead?
AF: I don’t know … maybe an astronaut…ahahah
