Artist Interview: The Mietus Touch

What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

TMT: I suppose that I pull from a menagerie of influences. There’s definitely a common thread running through every song on the album, but at the same time, there are also a lot of very different artists one could cite as these songs sound like. I think in a lot of ways that the natural progression of music in that influences is going to be more and more homogenized. The creative soup we’re all drawing from is perpetually getting bigger and with more ingredients. But I really like to draw a bit from one thing and another bit from something completely different.

If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?

TMT: Beck. We have similar eclectic tastes and a style of songwriting that I think would be compatible and fun.

Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your best song and why?

TMT: “Digits” is the most radio-friendly song, but “You Got Me” is the most personal to me. I suppose it’s also of note that both of those songs were largely written and recorded over the course of a night.

Wow. Those were written the same night?

TMT: Oh no, two separate nights. Two long nights of creative flow occurred on the bookends of that relationship.

Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?

TMT: Hard to choose, can I say both. Love the control of the studio, but I also love the interaction on the live stage too. As much as I do love the sometimes slow, methodical way about studio recording, I do think at its core music is meant to be a shared experience and nothing gets you there faster than playing on stage.

What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

TMT: Tough call, I’ve gotten to experience things because of music that I never would have dreamed of. Performing for a sold-out crowd at Chicago’s Metro Theater was a highlight just because that place is so iconic as a Chicagoan. Touring in France and the fan interaction there was such a lovely experience. I also played a rooftop show on this beautiful summer night in Atlanta with one of the most enthusiastic crowds imaginable. The magic in the air that night was palatable.

What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?

TMT: We’ve never been better access to music. Anyone that says that music isn’t what it used to be tripe isn’t paying attention. The flip side of that though is there’s so much good stuff out there that it’s hard as a fan to find it and hard as an artist to find your fans. It’s wild how super niche stuff can either find its audience and connect thousands, even millions of people, and something that offers a very similar experience may not find anyone at all.

What kind of impact do you want to make with your music?

TMT: The best thing about any art is creating something personal that resonates with many people. When you create something that is hyper-personal to you but it connects with people who find it hyper-personal to them as well. The reminder that the shared human experience is more similar than we think. That core emotions and experiences and universal.

#NewMusic Don’t miss out on Asiahn’s new release, “We Can”

As an ode to Eartha Kitt, Grammy-Nominated Singer/Songwriter Asiahn’s (Aah-Zee-Yahn) new single “We Can” will blow you away without compromise this weekend. Asiahn sets a new standard in music as she defies the lines between pop, r&b, and jazz with mind-blowing vocals. Soulful genre-bending becomes her second nature on her new single. Her voice melts effortlessly across each melody with ease. The sound of her voice teases you the entire song with seductive flirtatious lyrics.

The flute plays beautifully in the background, as the saxophone and harp bounce off the harmonic rhythms of her voice so elegantly. Drum breaks beat rapidly and steadily put you in a hypnotic state as you get high off her voice.

“We Can” makes you feel wild, free, and sexy. “Are you here for love or a season?” She’s a woman of love and lust – but she’s also the kind of woman who is intentional with who she decides to trust. In this song, it feels she wants to know exactly what is the purpose before she says “We Can.” We are in love with Asiahn creativity and we know she’ll be around for much more than a season. New Music Spotlight: “MotorBike by NATALYA”

The “celestial songbird” NATALYA just released a beautiful new track titled “MotorBike.” We’re here to tell you that this one will literally take you for a blissful harmonic ride…

As a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, her polished soothing vocals croon over a hypnotic drum beat with spine-chilling electric guitar riffs, bringing you on a journey where she illustrates exactly what she wants and needs. NATALYA tells a unique story about riding out with a partner and allowing him to guide her holistically – mind, body, and soul. She is telling a story about submission, trusting her partner enough to lead the way and guide her through the pathways towards bliss. Her smooth, sexual, and thick vocals give you a Sade-Esque vibe with a modern soft rock twist of Teena Marie that would make the musician legacy of Prince proud.

As a personal mentee of Prince, NATALYA makes this track feel like a classic but modern twist of fusion pop, funk, and rock&roll. We must also mention throughout the music industry, NATALYA’s soulful and expressive vocals, sophisticated melodies, and emotional sincerity are considered her “hallmark…” and, yes we certainly agree. Her hypnotizing voice will have you replaying her record over and over while singing the soulful lyrics.

“MotorBike” is a classic track that feels very cinematic and ethereal, literally touching your soul in a subconscious way that’s hard to explain. Her lyrics and soothing vocals can really get stuck in the brain – if you dare let it. In this musical masterpiece, she’s taking us for a ride and we absolutely love it!

We can’t wait to see where the music takes NATALYA. We are grateful she decided to share this masterpiece. This song really hits the soul in a sensual and mystical way. Listen more on Spotify here.

Artist Interview: Miss Freddye

Miss Freddye

What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?

Miss Freddye (MF:) It was by “accident”! I was dating a bass player, who was in a blues band. He heard me sing Silent Night to my youngest son. He said his band was looking for a singer. I was very hesitant at first, but, I agreed to audition….HERE I AM!

What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

MF: I believe I stand out from other artists is when people from the audience or even musicians I have worked with, tell me I connect and tune in with the audience and I have a tendency to leave people with a happy feeling. Not only from the music, but from my reaching out, without them feeling “uncomfortable”. I greet and try to talk to people. Another of times can’t do, but I try my best!

If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?

MF: It would be Tab Benoit. He had such energy, such flow of music that touches the spirit. You can just tell he feels, believes, and delivers the music he does. That is someone whom I would love to collaborate with!

Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?

MF: Well, that’s easy! LADY OF THE BLUES! It describes my character. It tells of a story of triumph thru good and bad times. All the while I’m being a Lady about it! I thank Steve Nestor for that. He wrote for me. The Year it was released he passed away.

Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?

MF: I have alot of great memories thru out my music career! My most memorable is playing at our local Children’s Hospital. I love seeing not only the parents relaxed, enjoying the music, but the kids too! They dance, they sing, despite their illness and those are memories I will always cherish!!

What would you consider the most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

Recording my second album and being nominated with two blues music awards thru the Blues Foundation! I was proud, excited, and so ever grateful!

What inspires you the Most about the music industry these days?

The dedication I see in the musicians. The way they handled getting thru this pandemic as it still goes on! As the saying goes……”the music must go on!” It certainly has!!

What kind of impact do you want to make with your music?

I want my music to give people something they can believe in, something that they can keep going back to. Something that each time they listen to they know it’s for them! When that happens, they will come back for more!
